How do I access the settings menu of my WLX-2003 if I am connected to my network?

How do I access the settings menu of my WLX-2003 if I am connected to my network?

In this FAQ, we assume you have correclty installed your Range Extender. If this is not the case, please click here for more information.

To access the settings menu of the WLX-2003, you must first establish a connection to the range extender. Seek the network name of the range extender.

If the WLX-2003 is connected to your network, you will recognise the range extender because it has the same name as your network, with _EXT added to the end.

Accessing the Settings menu

You can only access the Settings menu – and change settings – via a browser (i.e. from a PC, laptop or tablet). You could also use a smartphone, but we recommend against it. The screen will be too small for the Settings menu.

IP address

You access the Settings menu of the WLX-2003 using the original IP address of the WLX-2003. Once your WLX-2003 is connected to your network, your router (or modem router) or access point assigns it an address. So you cannot connect to the Settings menu. You need to temporarily assign a ‘static IP address’ to your computer. To do this, follow the steps below.

Note: After you are finished with the settings menu, you must undo the changes you are now going to make. Otherwise you cannot browse the internet.

1.    Open the Network and Sharing Center on your computer.  First go to the icon marked at the bottom right.

2.    Left-click it once.

3.    The following screen will then appear.

4.    Click Open Network and Sharing Center (blue marked in the image above).

5.    In the window that opens click Change adapter settings (marked blue in the image below).

6.    Right-click Wireless Network Connection and then Properties (marked in the image).

7.    Now the following window opens. Check the list of components. Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) must always be ticked.

8.    Internet Protocol version 4 must be ticked. If it is not, left-click it once.

9.    Now click Properties.

10.    Now the following window opens. For the WL-330 range extender Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically must both be ticked.

Is Obtain an IP address automatically ticked here? Then click Use the following IP address, and enter the following data:

IP Address: 192.168.128.200
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.128.253

Please note! If you are already using a static IP address (i.e. there is already something filled in), you should note that data somewhere, because you will need to restore it afterwards.

Click OK.

Now follow the steps below to access the settings menu of your WLX-2003 range extender.

1. Open your browser.

Open your browser, such as Internet Explorer or Safari. Type the following IP address: 192.168.128.253.

2. The following pop-up screen appears.

It will ask for a Username and Password. The default value for both fields is admin. You can change this in the Settings menu. If you have changed them, obviously you must enter the new values.

Finally, click OK.

You will now see the home screen of the Settings menu.

Note: After you have finished adjusting settings in the Settings menu,  you must undo the fixed IP address you created earlier on. Otherwise you cannot browse the internet. Change the IP settings back exactly as they were.
